calling all 200k+ mile LT1's

i was wondering if there is any point in a modding a 200k+ mile car? Is really worth the time and money? I am asking this because my car has over 200k and im losing the interest in modding. thanks

That all depends on how long your going to keep the car.
Even though it has 200k on it, its still fast, still handles, etc.

I understand your point and where your coming from. Think of it as if you would restore a 4th gen f body.

Its pretty apparent that your not going to see the money back that you dump into the car but that doesnt mean you wont see pleasure and enjoyment.
American cars dont make good investments.

Send your stock heads out to LE or AI and pick up a cam. You ll want to still mod you car.

With a high mileage car like yours, as the member above me stated, if you mod it it would be for your own enjoyment, and not worrying about resale. You have to remember the mileage is on the chassis. You can always rebuild a drivetrain. Whether you choose to go stock or all out is up to you.

EDIT: Right now I would suggest to quit worrying about doing mods. You should start by getting the problems with the car fixed first. After you car is running right, you will begin to have fun with it. Then you can figure out what to mod next!!

In all seriousness, you need to figure out what you've got under the hood before you make any decisions whatsoever. You're unsure whether it's a stock 200k+ motor or a 383 with only 16k on it. Find out before you make any rash choices that you may/may not regret.

nope as long as the body is in good shape i personally dont care. how ever any thing can be fixed and replaced on a car. i just had my wheel wells replaced a year ago and the underside of the car cleaned up and repainted she doesn't have a spot of rust on her now.

motors, trannys, and rears are easy to replace.

my camaro has a lot of sentimental value to me and ill never sell it

Ya. I will never sell mine either. If something goes out I just replace it with a performance part. It will always be a work in progress. It is still fast and fun to drive

The way I see it right now is probably the last time to own a true muscle car before gas hits $10 a gallon in 5 years...which is why I am going all out *** gas prices. If you care about gas don't buy a performance car.

mines got 235K miles on it. its still mostly stock, and i love it.

you may want to start saving for a rear end though, mine bit the dust about 3 weeks ago.

Also, if your car really has what is in your signature, it is already HIGHLY modded, so why stop?

Yep I agree...I think the days of owning a big torquey V-8 are about gone. They're going the same way 2-stroke street and dirt bikes have went. The new performance machines will be litttle motors on boost....not bad but they won't have the kick-a*ss torque thats so much fun. When/if I finally wear my formula out (which I plan on keeping/rebuilding for a long time )...or gas prices wear me out, I won't be getting another muscle car...bikes will be my speed fix

How can you lose interest in something you have never done? I thought you bought the car the way it sits now?
