A/C troubleshooting

my ac started giving me trouble a few weeks ago. blowing cool on highway but in town not so cool. now it is always hot. i thought it low on r134 but checked and it is good. the A/C does not engage or turn on. where should i start? what test should i do to figure out the problem?

Also what are some good A/C delete kits? if the compressor is bad im getting rid of it.

First thing you should do is scan your PCM for codes. There are about 7 different codes that will not allow the Compressor to engage.

Second, how did you check your R134 level if your compressor won't engage? The system needs to be running to check the R134 level. You'll need a gauge set for both the low and high sides of the system.

The correct R134a pressures at various temp/humidity levels can be found courtesy of the great Shoebox!

Start with a PCM scan and let us know if you're throwing any codes. Then we can help you through the process.

If you just want to delete the system, there is a AC delete pulley that you can buy to bypass the compressor.

I have a a/c delete system on my z28. My a/c compressor seized up and i replaced it with the 1le pulley. I don't regret it even though i live in the Texas sun. My engine bay looks bad *** to now too.
