Okay, so the A/C quit. I brought it to the shop. They topped it off and then hooked up the code reader since it still didn't work. Here's how the guy explained it to me.

When you turn on the A/C, it sends a "request" to the computer to turn on. My computer is denying the request. So he's then saying that his code scanner isn't working and he's trying to find somebody who has one he can borrow.

Anybody got any ideas what's happening here? All I know is that one day I had A/C, the next I didn't. You can look down at the clutch and see that it isn't turning.

 

One would think it is either the pressure switch or the selector switch, and or maybe a fuse.

 

check the fuses and relays first. if all those look good, then check the low pressure switch. i personally don't know how to check the switch, but if you have an extra camaro or firebird laying around change them and see. good luck. mike

 

Thanks, fellas. I brought the car to a professional A/C shop. So I'm hoping they have already checked all of those.

 

As it turns out, he had a loose wire on his scanner. He fixed that and found a bad relay. $100.86.
