Buying an LS1 car

Hi i am lookin at a 99 Z28 that looks in above average condition exterior-wise. Its got all the power options, Ttops, M6, GFX and 130K on it. The dealership is asking $6,000.00 and he told me that he has room to talk. What is a good price for this? Keep in mind I will be traveling 200+ miles to get it and he will be selling it pretty much "as-is" meaning I won't be driving it back for any type of warranty work. thanks for any input

IMO that's a steal for an LS1 in prime condition, though 130k is relatively high for a 99 (compared to other similarly priced cars) If you could get away with it for 5k then you're on top, sir.

You call up a local mobile mechanic and have him look the car over.

Save your 200 mile trip it it comes to that...

My 95 LT1/T56 with similar miles books for $3000ish, so that's pretty decent.

I think $6,000k is a pretty good price for that kind of condition but the mileage is kinda high.

I imagine nothing is wrong with the car though. Is this a big dealership where they took this in on a trade or is this just a little bob car lot that goes to the Auctions?

Like said above, just have a local shop check it out.

When I called and asked about the car the guy was very open he told me I could take it to any mechanic I wanted, to have it checked out b4 I took it. He seemed pretty honest. It seems to be a small dealership. He is getting a complete list of anything it might need from someone that was driving it for a bit. $5K I'm prepared for it needing something but I am very capable of fixing it.

Low ball them if they said the price is negotiable. The worst they will do is counter offer you, in which case, you should still be saving some money.

Picking up the car on Sat. the final price....................... $4,600.00 It has a few imperfections but nothing major. the trim around the power switches on the drivers door panel is broken. Supposedly the day b4 I Called some lady took it to her mechanic and he said it needs a rear-end, but the salesman said he drove it and it doesn't hum or anything. The only th in g I can think is maybe the posi unit is worn out. But the 10-bolt is such crap anyways I don't care that it needs one. Because in the end I'm getting an LS1 6-speed car for $4,600.00 which is just great!

Oh one other thing the carfax came up completely clean. Except the dealer informed me it was in a minor front-end collision. Judging from the pictures you can't tell at all. The air-bags never deployed so it couldn't be too bad. The car was repainted and looks great I'll post pics when I get it here.

Also were the GFX an option in 99? It has them and I don't know how I feel about them. They are starting to grow on me but I love the look without. Was there an RPO code for the GFX ever?
