burnouts and donuts in my A4

i previously posted a thread asking about the dangers of breaking a rear end during a burnout. Ive since then done a few burnouts here and there. Ive done a few quick ones but never really sat long enough to smoke the tires. I dont know maybe my kumhos just dont smoke? I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on doing burnouts and donuts.. what not to do what to do. What i did last time was put it in 2 (why isnt there a 1?) and i went from a very slow roll, applied the brakes and let em spin. I let the power move me forward slowly and then i let off the brake easily until i was off. A few times i didnt put it in 2 and the car would shift as i was letting off the brake and i dont know if thats good or bad for the tranny. So any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks.

the reason there is no 1 availible because your car is a factory 2.73 car

when i burn out or do donuts, i just have it in D and just hit about half throttle and let it rip

does it ever shift into second as your pulling away and still spinning the tires or do you keep the brake on til you stop spinning the tires?

Re: burnouts and donuts in my A4

if im doing a stand still burnout, like at the track, it just spins..dont excellerate while at stand still, hold steady rpms enough to spin then

if im doing a complete burnout take off, itll shift into 2nd sometimes still spinning them then finally catch traction midway into 2nd

i keep it around 3k in 1st.... (m6 though) in my experience... any tire (ive had anyway) will smoke... some just take longer than others.

If you want to be able to put the car in first manually (for those fun 25-30 mph downshifts ) the first thing you will need to do is lift the shifter cover off (you can probably get away with just tilting it up). Once the cover is up, look inside and you will see a rubber stopper that is preventing the car from being manually shifted into first. Just cut that stopper off and you are good to go.

Re: burnouts and donuts in my A4

making the tires slip isn't really bad for your rearend its when they grab under super heavy load that **** breaks...

just leave it in D, from a stop stall it up for a milisecond before you floor it, and that should reduce undo pressure on your rearend to acceptable safe levels

Want to do a cool burnout/donut? Crank the wheel all the way either direction. Then go about 3/4 to 1 full turn back to the center. Hold the brake, put the car in D, and then give the car some gas once the tires are spinning at 50 mph, put the car in to 2. Keep spinning the tires until you start hitting the rev limiter in second gear. Now, let go of the brake. The car should start swinging around in the OPPOSITE direction that you've turned the wheel. Once it swings all the way around, spin the wheel the other way, and get the car to change directions. After a while you'll get the hang of it. Do a bunch of donuts, figure 8's, whatever the hell you want. After about 2 minutes the smoke will be so bad you won't be able to see out the windows, if you're lucky it will come in the car. Don't do this with the heat or AC vents on. Keep going as long as no cops come or you don't hit anything.

Next to a gas pump? Probably not the smartest thing to do donuts next to, but as long as you know how to handle the car...
