Borla vs. Corsa--Opinions

I am trying to decide on which catback to get. I have loved the Borla sound for years and always swore that when I got a Z28, I would get the Borla Adjustable catback. Well, I've been hearing/reading alot of stuff on the Corsa recently. What are your opinions on it's quality, sound, ease of installation? LS1sounds.com just doesn't do it for me when it comes to trying to get a true idea of the sound, especially when it comes down to the nitty gritty of deciding between two systems. Opinions please!

Yeah, best to listen to the system you want in person. I have the Corsa and love it, but if you've been looking forward to Borla for years that might be your best choice.

Thanks for the reply. How would you compare the difference in sound of the Corsa to the Borla? I realize that they both will sound different w/ different headers, catted vs not catted, and that the Borla itself will sound different depending on which plate is being used, but generally speaking, what are the differences?

To me Borla is a little louder/raspier, don't know if Borla is as quiet at highway speeds as Corsa - but that's just me, don't buy either just on my opinion.

Re: Borla vs. Corsa--Opinions

Borla with an open plate is very "snap crackle pop". When downshifting especailly. However if you use the block off plate and send all the exhaust though the muffler it sounds better.

I love my Corsa. No complaints whatsoever.

I have not heard a Borla in person (that I know of), so I can't really compare. I've heard that Borla has a deeper sound.

Here's a good clip (QuickTime 7 will play it)

Re: Borla vs. Corsa--Opinions

I've had my Borla since 1995 and its been a great cat back...Running it with no plate on my current set up and it sounds like a Pro mod car at WOT...Cap it up and its nice a quiet with just enough noise to be cool...Now that cut out companies are offering the electric cut out that fits in the spot for the plates its almost a no brainer...You can adjust the sound by throwing a switch... My neighbor has the Borla with the QTP cut out designed for the Borla and its very nice...

Re: Borla vs. Corsa--Opinions

I'm running SLP headers, the stock cat and a Borla catback with a QTP e-cutout. I can close the cutout and it is fairly mild and very comfortable on the highway. Just cracking open the cutout a little sounds really nice for city driving. No popping or crackeling, just a wild rumble that really sounds great. Open the cutout all the way and you'll get some popping and it sounds like a race car.
