Borla Exhaust?

Re: Borla Exhaust?
haha....yeah i probably do bash them a bit. mostly due to the stigma that they are the end all be all in Fbody exhaust. i just don't think they are.
i ran a magnaflow for 5yrs, and the guy i bought it from ran it for another 3 before that. and for the most part it looked 90% of what it did new. all that for a $400 exhaust.
as for having the cutout behind the axle...it really isn't hard to do that on a standard catback...just takes a little more work than putting it in the typical place.
anyway...i've expressed my opinion....not offended by any of yours.
because after all they are just that opinions

Re: Borla Exhaust?
I have a Borla that was on the car when I purchased it. As ive said in other threads, if I were buying a new exhaust system, I wouldnt go with a Borla mainly due to the high price, but it is a VERY nice system. It does get a little raspy, but that is easily outweighed by being able to adjust the system from your seat if you get an E-Cutout. Also, it being stainless doesnt hurt at all either.

Re: Borla Exhaust?
I do think that since the borla costs soo much (especially after the price hike they went to not too long ago) that they should include the dang E-cutout with the catback!!!
Ahhh in a perfect world heh???

Re: Borla Exhaust?
While I don't doubt that Borla is making a healthy profit, the material cost for 304SS is high. 304 will not rust, but the cheaper 409 (used by some other companies) will get surface rust. I have a DMH cut-out w/ limit switches in place of the plate and I really like the combo. I bought mine when the price was closer to $600, but $800 is not unreasonable for what you're getting.
BTW, 304SS looks great when polished!

Re: Borla Exhaust?
My car came with a Borla when I bought it, so no cost on my end. It's an awesome sounding exhaust. I always get looks when I'm getting on it.
But, the Borla WILL sound really raspy if you are running long tube headers and an off-road y-pipe. It'll just be a straight pipe then.

Re: Borla Exhaust?
There werent many V6 options at the time so I went with the Borla, I think it was $550 at the time, but it was worth it IMO because of the stainless steel, and the quality was top notch! After many rough winters it's held up great!
I have a home made plate, it just has some small holes drilled in it.
I only have a small rattle where it connects in the middle of the car, but thats it.

Re: Borla Exhaust?
Ive heard every different exhaust on these cars and Borla by far sounds the best, but thats also preference. It can be stupid loud, but the SLP has that beat, no 2 ways about it it. You cant beat the warranty and tunability, and with a DMH cutout back there, to damn near silence the car or make it rip roarin loud again, it just eliminates all other options. Except for that new price option, it kinda makes you cringe. But I see them used for sale on a regular basis for about $300. I just stumbled on a good deal for an off-road y with the whole cat back for $325. Thats the way to go.
