blinker problem...have to get car inspected this month

i have a problem with my driver side blinker, every since i've had the car it has blinked about half as fast as the passenger side and would sometimes stop and not blink at all but them decide to blink again in a few minutes. so i changed the flasher, the fuse, and all the bulbs front and rear, and it still blinked slow. so i changed them all again recently and now it just doesnt blink at all. i'm stumped. i need to get this fixed, my car's inspection goes out this month and so i need to get it fixed, anybody have any other things i could try? i was thinking about changing all the 2 sockets in the rear and the 1 in the front, could that possibly be the problem?

Did you use any type of electrical grease when you put the new bulbs in? Maybe its a loose connection somewhere or maybe the wire to that blinker has a cut in it somewhere. I would try the grease 1st then if it still works f*cked up, trace the wire and see if there's any breaks in it. It almost sounds like a flasher problem but you said you already replaced that.

i'm gonna try the socket thing, but what about that grease crap, there isnt any in my front socket but there is in both of the back, could that actually cause the problem?

and how much are the sockets?

Clean the sockets with contact cleaner before useing dielectric grease.

Check the contacts inside the connector and make sure there is still enough tension in the contact itself to make sufficent contact for current flow.

Sometimes you can rehab the connector without replacing it....

Hope that helps.

my drivers side rear sockets was my problem. my right blinker would stay solid and not blink at all. they looked fine too. but they were possesed. once i changed them out there were no problems. It is a common problem on these cars to see the sockets possesed.

Sometimes mine will blink also then just not blink, its very random...

Makes sense about these sockets... They corrode over time...

My question is though, How to figure out which need to be replaced ???

and part #'s ??

i discovered mine was the front driverside one because i pulled it out and was messing with it with the blinker on and everytime i tugged on the ground wire it would blink and then when i released it, it would usually stop blinking.
i thought it was a bad ground so i cut the ground wire and regrounded it somewhere else but it was still doing the same thing, so i've determined it was a bad socket (i havent changed it yet to prove it but what else could it be?)
also the damn sockets are like $49.99 from the dealership, anywhere else i can get them?

I'd go on ebay and look for one of the many f-body part salvage places that have the many camaro/firebird parts on there...

Send them an email and see if they can help you out with the sockets....
