Black is black

Hello, Did GM change the black paint a few years ago? I ask cause at my gym, I see many recent Cobalts and G5/6 that are much deeper and almost as black as Mitt Romney's hair. Where as my 95 has always looked Navy blue on the brightests days to me. Thanks

Are you sure you don't have a navy blue Camaro Seventeen years will do a lot of fading if out in the sun much. I will ask the painters at work if they did any changes.

I have a black 95 Z, Dad has a black 94 Z and my brother has a black 98 TA. All of them never original paint and all of them shine very blue.None of them look as cool as the black on a Trailblazer SS.

Black (or any real color) has to be matched by paint code. There are many different blacks out there.

True. A long time ago, some jackass smacked into the right rear quarter of my black 1996 Camaro SS (and didn't even leave a note...buncha savages in this town).

I took it to the dealership and they got it all fixed up nice. It looked great and then after a couple of days, I happened to look at the car sitting in direct sunlight and I saw a sort of faint but distinctive brown hue to the newly painted area.

I took it back to the dealership and explained it and he said they use the exact codes as specified by GM and that "there is no black blacker than black". It was a cloudy day so we couldn't see it but on the next sunny day, I took it back and got it in the sun and he saw what I saw. Turns out, they pulled the code from another 1996 Chevrolet vehicle, which I think was an Impala SS...and it had a slightly different paint mix.

They repainted it with the right code and it was prefect after that.
