The stock wiring over the course of time builds up additional resistance that cause the problem that is not as obvious when the car is new. GM did a terrible job with the wiring engineering in our cars.

I too would prefer to keep the wiring as stock as possible.

Does anyone have any pictures of the thermal piece that you remove off the back of the motor and where you solder the wire? I have yet to open up my door panels,but I would like to have some idea on what I am looking for on the motor. Can someone describe what they look like?
