I am sure people have done this before...

BUt the other day, I set my alarm off yet again at a race I was at in the infield, fed up I ripped off a tag on my camping chair, opened my remote and put a piece of it under the Panic button on my remote. I finally disabled my panic button!

No more working on my car at 1am with a AA maglite in my mouth lean over and the panic button goes off in my pocket, no more at car shows, getting my keys out and my panic button goes off and everyone looks at me, no more, getting your hands full of crap from a store, fumbling to get your keys out setting off the panic button.

All gone now.

 

thats a good idea although ive never really had that problem.. ive never even set the factory alarm off yet

 

No power doors / keyless entry for me!

 

The panic button is ****ing retarded and pointless

If someone is trying to steal your car, the alarm will be going off anyways
If someone is trying to steal your car and they've disabled the alarm, the panic button won't do **** either way


Why is it there?
Is there a way to reprogram it and make it have some other function?

 

one reason is for women
it's a protection if someone is trying to do something while you're in the car, you can draw all kinds of attention by setting it off

 

I think any normal person would star the car and run the person over...

Ironically the HORN works wonders too..
You can draw more people's attention using the horn than a car alarm ANYDAY.

 

Also... if you're lost in a parking lot and can't find your car or just plain feel like annoying the h*ll out of someone...

 

Hey I work valet for a hotel while in college and when I cant find a car in an 8 level parking garage I can always count on the old panic button to show me the car!!

 

i had to do that in the casino parking lot in detroit,lol, but it is a pain sometimes

 

The panic button is for people who may be in trouble..a woman getting mugged or something.

But All 3 of my 4th gens had it and all of my friends have them . And not one of us have ever set it off on accident. I used the one on my first 4th gen" formula" for humor purposes to annoy people, lol, but have never set the one on my Camaro or LS1 TA

 

I set it off by accident while I was talking to someone in my old Mustang, we were argueing and I was fumbling with my keys and then CLICK! By accident, the arguement was turned into a nice laughing moment...

 

if they're on the side of your car, it's hard to run them over

Yep! (Keep in mind, I'm military) I was in the desert and EVERYONE drives these damn 2004 Ford F-150's, either grey or green. (only in the USAF) We'd be out wandering the parking lot looking for our truck at 0630 in the morning and it's getting up to 120 degrees already! I'd be nice to fine the truck. ----beep beep--------that way!----> Had to share that.

 

Yes, cause we all go running to assist whenever we're in the mall parking lot and we hear an alarm going off.

It's a car alarm, someone's in trouble! I had better go help.

 

Maybe I am jsut an idiot, but I probably set mine off easily 20 times in the last year.
