Re: battery relocation

I've been thinking about doing this as well. I guess if you use the correct gauge wire there would be no disadvantage. Can someone that has done this chime in with pros and possible cons. What gauge wire(s) did you use?

Re: battery relocation

I heard of things about current flow, if you have a loud sound system that could be bad news. I also heard that you might want to think about a master cutoff switch, but I think that is supplied with those things. I don't know, but if it were me I wouldn't feel to safe with it. But if you make it work, and wire it up safe. I'm all for it.

Re: battery relocation

I wouldn't be worried at all having a battery in the trunk instead of under the hood. A lot of newer cars are doing it and mercs. and beamers have been doing it for awhile....I think for it to be NHRA legal it has to have a cut-off switch and I don't think its supposed to be wet cell......maybe someone that has done it can chime in with what they used(as far as wire) and how well its been working. I've got some 1/0 gauge wire laying around in the garage that's off some nachi robots that I think would work just fine ......

True, it would be better for that, but what I heard was trouble with cranking current power and alt current. I think I heard it on a tv show, but that was the only cons I've heard of. I personally think it would be cool to see that, and if/when you do it, I'd like to see some pics of it!

Summit and Jegs sell a generic battery box, an NHRA approved Moroso kit, and some aluminum kits as well. $40-$200

What kind of battery are you using? What does your voltage gauge say when the car is idling? Thanks.

If your running a bunch of amps or any then just get a 1 farad capacitor.. I have a 2.4 farad on my tahoe and she never ever drops below 12.4 with three amps, 2 - 6x8's 4 - 6.5's 2 - 12's.. Starts great in the winter and everything, dash lights dim, but barely noticeable, at the end of a long friday night pounding through the streets, but head lights still don't fade a bit..

Just run some big wire and get a relocation kit, enjoy the extra space...

Re: battery relocation

Because of less weight on the passager side I could feel the difference.
