Autozone Bad Part (need advice)
All,
I rebuilt an TA and put a new crank in from Autozone. The engine ran like crap. I could not figure it out and took the car to both a dealer and a performance guy. They could not figure it out. Finally I decided to pull the engine. I eventually found out that the reluctor ring on the crank from Autozone was slighly bent. Only one tooth was bent. When I complained to Autozone, they told me tough luck.
The performance guy told me that the reluctor ring is notorious for getting damaged. Apparently some manufacturers do not ship the crank with the ring on.
What is the responsibility of Autozone? Can I take them to small claims court? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks,
J

Re: Autozone Bad Part (need advice)
Small claims court would probably be a waste of your time unless there is some other engine damage involved then that would be the only way to go and you would have to have significant proof saying that there bad part caused all of the damager.
The way I would go is go back in with the part and show them where it is fubared and talk to the manager and if the manager won't do anything for you tell them you want to talk to there regional manager and just go up the chain of command until you find someone that will help you. Once you mention regional manager and corporate office they will more than likely jump to give you whatever you want.

i work at checker auto parts and we occasionally run into problems like this. I can't belive the just told you tough luck, at my store we would have atleast worked something out with you. Odds are, if you complain enough and get the phone number to corporate, that store's district manager will cave and just tell that store manager to work with you. There is no reason why they shouldnt. Whatever company that made the crank would end up flipping the bill, that store would just temporarily have to pay for it, then they would get reimburssed. What i would do is get the corporate offices phone number and talk to someone higher up than that store's manager. Good luck buddy!
