Where did you hide the big bulky relay block?

Why are you using this custom box? My GM express down module works perfectly fine with the relay mod on the driver door.

I wish you would've replied to the other thread when I asked that earlier

I bought two thinking I could, then was told that I couldn't, so I spent the money on the express down

This is the first time I have been in general tach in ages.

I dont understand why they have a different module. Assuming the battery puts out 12V DC, the maximum voltage to the relays can only be 12V. I would expect 12V on a brand new 4th gen f-body. Then of course with age, things go down hill.

Without the relays and the "high reistance wiring" issues, that number might be more like 10V and as "V" falls off, so doe "I".

So if the GM module were to do the job with window motor voltage equaling battery voltage, why can it not with relays?

My express down with alarm relays and OEM module works flawless.
Maybe someone can explain it.

The driver side module sets the voltage at 10-10.5 volts to the motor then latches and detects when the window is all the way down from the voltage spike.

If you install the relays in between the module and the motor, the module will not be able to detect how much current the motor is using and will never stop holding the button down.

If you install the relays before the module, you are not helping out too much because the module is still going to restrict the voltage. It can be done and probably will show SOME improvment but the re-designed module utilizes a ZERO loss detection method.

I hope that makes sense.

I have my relays between the GM module and the motor. Works flawless from what I can see.

What you are not seeing is that the GM module has NO idea when your window hits the bottom and is sitting there essentially holding the down button on your motor wearing it out.

I'm unsure why it does not catch fire Most likely there is a breaker in the GM module that just cancels after so long.

But if you think about the fact that you are puttin relays in between the module and the motor then HOW can the module know that the window has hit end of travel and it needs to stop putting power out?

Glad it is working for you though. During out testing it did not stop putting power to the motor and the only thing that saved the circuit is the thermal circuit in the motor. We did not test to see how long it would keep tripping.. It must stop or have a time delay.

There is a timeout out in the GM module which cuts the power to the motor after x amount of seconds. Mybe you tested a defective module. If this were not the case, my car would have burned to the ground years ago.

I agree there must be... When we tested we did not wait longer than 10-15 seconds.

Either way, holding power to the motor and tripping the thermal switch over and over until the time out happens is not the "proper" way to do things.

By no means does that mean it won't work.
