Anyone know A/C?
Anyone know A/C?
I replaced the compressor only about 3 months ago since it was shot, with a brand new gm one. Now about 2 weeks ago the a/c stop blowing cold. I noticed that i can turn the a/c on and when i give the car some throttle something will squeal for a few seconds and immidiately it starts blowing cold. I'm guessing it's the compressor squealing and something is wrong with it? And the car has a new tensioner and serp belt too btw. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!
Re: Anyone know A/C?
I'll check it again, but i'm pretty sure it's not low.
I can drive it around for an hour and it wont cool worth a lick, but if i give it a nice rev and get whatever it is to squeal it immidiately starts cooling...

Re: Anyone know A/C?
If it IS low, there is a low pressure cut off switch that will cut out the compressor. But, that dosn't explain the squealing..

Re: Anyone know A/C?
Sounds like maybe the clutch in the compressor pulley isnt engaging, or its f'd up. Did you replace the dryer along with the compressor, if not, thats a big nono. You always replace the dryer when you service the AC in any way, be it a new condenser, compressor, or the core in the dash. Thats what pulls away the moisture in the system, and moisture is bad for AC systems. Ive heard of people doing one piece, then doing them again shortly after because they didnt change the dryer the first time.

I'm no A/C expert; but my dad had the same problem on his old '92 Vicky Interceptor. You need a new belt or tensioner. Sounds like the belts shot and wont grab the pulley. When you rev up the car real fast, you actually heat up the belt which makes it grab the pulley

Hm.. thats weird. What model serpentine did you go with? Is it the same exact one? Maybe you need yet another one
