for some reason the radio antenna is angled outward away from the body. i unscrewed the antenna to find that the screw is angled outward causing the antenna to do the same thing.

is it safe to bend the screw to an upright condition?

what else can i do to get the antenna upright?

i have one question for you... does the "cup" on the outside fit flush with the body all the way around? if it doesnt, then the entire thing is bent. There is a bracket inside (behind the plastic panel) that you may try pushing towards the quarter... this may help you put it back into place.

Another thing to try is to take the antenna completely off (the part going through the quarter panel) and see if you cant turn it slightly.

 

yes, the plastic housing fits pretty good against the quarter panel with no gap.

is the threaded portion and plastic housing 1 part, or two separate parts?

well... hopefully you can understand this explanation of it.

there is a bottom portion that contains the threaded part that goes through the quarter and then the "cup" goes on and there is a threaded nut (the thing with the notches in it on the top) that tightens down to clamp everthing together... then the antenna threads on ofter that.

its hard to get apart, if you have needle nose plyers that 90* then use them as your "wrench".. or go get the tool that is used for such a thing that i have never seen, the plyers worked for me.

 

another thing... it will be hard to bend just the threaded portion if in fact that is what you want to do, you'll probably end up putting a visible bend in your quarter panel unless you properly hold the bottom portion of the antenna.
