Always blows heat

Anytime that I have my A/C turned off, I get hot air coming out of my vents. I have no idea what could cause this, anybody else ever had this problem? It is on a 96 Trans Am.

Re: Always blows heat

With it being ~100° around where I am, I always get hot air out of the vents, unless the a/c is on.

Maybe it is nothing to worry about, but I just started noticing it a few days ago, and all summer long I have had my windows down and A/C off at night. Is there a heater control valve on 4th gens?

The temp of the air is controlled by the doors in the system. When the temp control is turned to cold it takes outside air bypassing the heater core. If the ouside air and sheet metal are hot - you'll get hot air.

right. Keep it to the coldsetting, even if the fan isn't on The heat is still there, it just enters the cabin slower. By keeping it on cold, you should only get outside air. If it's still hot (and it's NOT 100 degrees outside) your blend door may be stuck.

Also, I can feel it on my feet/legs, and if I reach up under my dash, there is always air blowing around in there, the grommet behind my computer is not in right, it is just kind of sitting there rather than being in the firewall. I noticed the other day when I had my computer out, could this be causing the air up under my dash?

Re: Always blows heat

This sounds like what happens with my car. If I start driving my car with the a/c off, I get hot air coming only from the windshield defroster and drivers bottom vent(legs). The only way to make it stop is to turn on the a/c and turn it off, after that it will blow cool air, until I turn on the car again.
I've had this problem since my car was in an accident, so I think it was caused by it.

Where is the blend door? or how can I try to fix this?

Thanks
