My brother and I took apart his broken alternator today and found that one of the brushes was broken in half. Would this cause the alternator to stop working? I mean, it still has one good brush, but I thought that I had heard that if one is bad then the alternator will not work. Thanks.

 

Yes if the one brush is broken it will create an open circuit.
