I used the ac on my 94z28 for the first time this year and when accelerating i heard a loud screech coming from the alt. belt.The belt is in poor shape and is missing a strip from a incorrect install last year,but the odd thing is the sound is only when when ac is on!Any ideas,or thoughts as to what is the problem,or how to fix it.

belt tensioner. replace the belt too.

If you have a chewed up belt, I would start there.

it sounds like since your belt is screwed that it is slipping on the AC pulley when you have the AC on

I<m going to replace the belt next wk.Which belt,# no.do i need.I have the March u.d pulley and the o.d alt.pulley.Thanks again for the replies

I had #11-590k6(dayco) but it was replaced w/ goodyear gatorback#4060592 which ended up being the wrong size(too long)thus ended up having not enough tension.I just installed another Dayco(#11-590k6) and everything is working as it should,tensioner has no issues,no problems w/ ac on,etc.
