Air Dam

I am missing my air dam. The one that pushes the air up into my radiator on my car and I am almost positive that is what was causing my temperature problems this past summer. Can someone give me the dimensions of one. I want to make one up out of stainless steel. There's one on e-Bay but they want $110!!! It's for a 95 Z28. Thanks for any help.

Re: Air Dam

If you make one out of a material that does not flex I don't think it will last long.

I went to the dealer they wanted $42. Screw that. I can make one and get credit for my final project in my Metals class.

Spend the $42, then cover the front partially with stainless with the credit. Re-read what Bud said.

That is the thing you (or at least people that have them) always hear scraping everything. If it doesn't bend/flex well and rebound, then it will just bend and stay bent. A stainless one would look great strait, but after you hit the first curb parking, or first high bump in a lot, whatever, it would look crappy. Look at someones, anyones, and see if the bottom of it isn't scratched to pieces. I'll try and get a pic of mine for you.

Just a head's up.

Like I said though, you could make like an overlay for the center of the front of it.

Re: Air Dam

Thanks for all the help guys. But I actually just got a freebie today. That $42 can go towards the trans rebuild . Thanks again.

Re: Air Dam

I got a new one from the local Chevy dealer for $30.....mine was in real rough shape and I decided to go with a new one.....it still looks pretty good actually, I haven't hit any curbs or high bumps with it as far as I know.

If anyone wants my old one, you're welcome to it. It will still serve the purpose, it just isn't the best-looking.

Re: Air Dam

I bought one off of ebay for twenty bucks. The dealer only charges 25.00-30.00 for them though.

Re: Air Dam

Yeah all these other dealerships it seems only want $30 or so. Matick Chevrolet can bite me. They overprice everything. They wanted $1100 to change a fuel pump. Only reason I even went there was because I didnt want to get dirty. But after hearing $1100, I was under the car the next day.

You need the air dam under the car to direct the air upwards to cool the radiator. It will have nothing to do with your SS hood.
