Air Conditioning R&R

Ok so car is getting old, and I have had little problems with A/C in past. I had the car down and motor removed for a few years, but kept AC unit closed and compressor attached to accessory bracket.

Upon putting engine back into car the AC did not blow cold. When checking at shop when dyno tuning, they said the system had no freon charge. They charged it (with real gauges), but did not put a vacuum on it. A/C worked great, blew cold.

I noticed under the car a few days ago the compressor was leaking oil. I knew that I was going to have to replace it or the seals in it. Yesterday I started car and belt was squeeling, and looked and compressor was locked up.

So basically I want to do a A/C overhaul on my car. I am curious what I need to replace other than the compressor. (I have an A/C vacuum pump and appropriate gauges to refill. )

I am guessing O rings and dryer in addition to compressor, but like to do things right and want opinions. Also can your seals on your compressor be replaced?

Compressor, dryer(aka:accumulator),and expansion valve or orifice should be replaced.. And don't forget to flush the system...

Yeah I read to flush before changing everything right? I am torn on what compressor to get. I have heard delco is china or Taiwan now but not sure.

Delphi is the OEM and service compressor supplier for 90% of GM vehicles built between 1988-2004. I know Carquest carries Delphi...

Re: Air Conditioning R&R

Does anyone make an "all-in-one" kit to do this properly or is it necessary to order all the parts individually? I am presuming that I would also need to source all of the required O-rings for the various connection points as well?

What is the best practice on the hoses? Just a visual inspection and reuse if they look okay or should they be replaced as well, given their age?

Like most Z28s of our vintage, mine is probably going to need a rebuild pretty soon.

Thanks.
