Air Conditioning Problem...

My AC... like most's... doesn't work. My question is: what is the cheapest/easiest way to figure out what part of the system is not working. I know about putting the die in the lines, but im not sure that its leaking as much as it just doesn't work. I believe there's something busted and i have no idea how to figure out what it is... (compressor, evaporator, condensor...etc...)??? any ideas?

Re: Air Conditioning Problem...

Start With The Compressor, Does It Come On When You Turn The A/c On? If Not (with The Engine Off)see If The You Can Turn The Clutch On The Compressor With Your Hand. If It Turns You Have Either A Electrical Problem Or There Is No Freon In The System. At This Point You Problably Want To Take It To Someone Who Works On A/c's And That You Know And Trust. Most Mechanic Shops Will Charge Very Little To Diagnos A/c Troubles. Good Luck But Beware, most Mechanic Shops Know That Most People Don't Know Anything About A/c Systemsand Will Try To Take Advantage Of That.

I had the same problem with mine, turned out to be the compresser, about 800. using the GM parts, works great now
