Re: air bags?

depends on what went wrong. if they depolyed your looking at extensive labor, lots in parts. you would need the air bag modules them self and you need a new clock spring.

Re: air bags?

When an air bag deploys there is a list of things to check before you just put new bags in, that's unless you don't want them to work. If you just want to have them in there so you can drive then you can get used bags from a parted out car for usually a few hundred. If you want them to work then I'd bring it some where to have it checked out properly.

Re: air bags?

Go on EBAY, you can get both airbags and the module...
Then you'll need a new windshield.
A grand each is a bit much man.

Re: air bags?

Do some looking and asking around about the module. I have helped with rebuilders as well as sold parts for them. There is/are places that will reprogram the module for a fraction of the price of a new one. Even if you do get a new one or a used one, it will have to be programed anyway. Either by a body shop or a dealership.

As far as the bags go Ebay is the key here.

Whatever you do, do not pay a grand each for the bags. You should be able to get both used bags for around 5 or 6 hundred max.

Re: air bags?

Also, just a thought that goes along with the Ebay idea, check the parts for sale forum on this board, I have seen numerous times people selling their air bag modules for dirt cheap.

Re: air bags?

so that makes $2000 with both bags, installed?

might be a little steep, but depending on the price of the bags, not unheard of

where are you located?
