Air Bag Light Came On

Hey everyone. I was hoping you could help me with my problem. Yesterday while just doing normal driving my Air Bag light came on. Today I went ahead and disconnected the fuse, the connectors, I even took off the air bag. Anyway, that didn't help solve the problem. At the moment I'm resetting the computer in hopes that it helps.

What is going on?? What could it be??? If anyone can shed some light on my situation please feel free to assist me. Thanks

If I were you I'd go see if I could get the computer scanned to see if there are any codes there so you know what went wrong

But that's just me

I didn't scan but I used the method where you get a paper clip and connect the the A and B port together, and the Service Engine Light flashes codes. Well that didn't flash any codes. The only code it flashed was 12, but thats not the problem code.

I have a 93 Z and I had the same problem. Instead of paying big cash for some tech to figure it out I unhooked everything you mentioned and pulled out the buld in the dash......No more light

Re: Air Bag Light Came On

But now you don't have the Air Bag system right? I might do that in the end if the problem can't be solved. I have tried the ground connections under the hood to no avail. The ground by the red cap and the one by the radiator shroud. Still the light stays on. I hope its not the coil.

Re: Air Bag Light Came On

So I messed around some more and it seems that after messing around with the ground by the red cap some more, I have gotten the Air Bag light to flash a few times then turn off before start up. But now after I start the car, the Air Bag light stays on, and even flickers a bit, but at the end stays on.

I'm guessing I'm having a grounding problem from these symptoms. What do you guys think? Oh, I just recently found out that the stop lights in the spoiler went out. Could that also have something to do with my problem??

Re: Air Bag Light Came On

Take the bulb out and put 24 volts across it until it blows, then put it back and never mention it again.

I had this problem happen to me when I was giving a potential buyer a test drive in my old car, of all the times it could come on.

If your worried about safety, get the source of the problem sorted or get the airbag replaced.

Re: Air Bag Light Came On

So now the Air Bag light comes on sometimes, and most recently has just worked like its supposed to.

I'm going to go ahead and clean the ground a lot more thoroughly and see if that finally clears up the problem.
