After a cold winter in vegas..

I did a search on here and found that the heater core likes to get clogged. Flushed it out and its never worked better, wished I would have done this a long time ago. Now I can rock the t-tops off with the heater cranked. Thanks guys keep it up!

What is entailed in flushing out the heater core? Does it have to be removed to do this?? My heat doesnt work so well this year, thought this could be the problem.

pull the heater hoses off the pump, and take a garden hose to them

yeah there are two hoses on the passenger side that go into the firewall. pull them off and run water from a hose into one of the openings on the firewall. and keep switching openings to flush out the crap. you'll see some brown water coming out of there, and keep doing it until the water comes out easy and clear.

Would you guys recommend using this method, or removing the hoses from the water pump and flushing the hoses at the same time, just in case there is a clog in the hoses somewhere. I guess removing them from the firewall would help keep the opti from getting wet.

for the best results flush the whole system first and then flush just the heater core so you get most of the crap thats averywhere else out first.

unclogging it does not always work for long, we flushed mine and it worked for about 2 weeks each time, and then would clog again. Had to eventually just replace the heater core, and now it works like a charm
