AC Blows hot
AC Blows hot
Doesnt make any noises or anything and blows just fine. its just HOT. definately good timing with the scorching florida heat we have going on right now. before it completely died it seemed to blow a whitish condensation vapor through the vents.
When you turn on the a/c look or have someone look to see if the clutch on the front of the a/c kicks on (it will push out and turn). The fans should turn on as well. If you're low on freon the clutch will not ingage. Or, you could be like me and have the clutch coil short out, but that left a nice smoke cloud as it took the fusable link with it.
cheeper to charge it yourself? yes. better? not unless you know what your doing. I ahve seen a lot of posts and helped a lot of people on a lot of different bored that idn;t know what they were doing and ended up costing them more then the 30 bucks it would have taken to have a shop do a check.
if the compressor clutch is cycling ( turning on and off) then you probably are low and need to be rechareged. but this also means that you have a leak and the freon could last a week or a year depending on the leak.
see if the compressor is engauging at all. if it isn;t then take a long metal bar and hold it against the clutch while the car and AC are on. do you feel a magnetic pull? if you do then wack the clutch a few times, if it doesn't spin you need a compressor. if you feel no magnetic pull then the compressor is not getting power and you either have an electrial issue or are extreamly low on freon.
either way the best thing to do is have a set of gauges put on. pressure is the very best diagnostic tool when dealing with ac problems. you can;t do much without knowing it

Just pick up a kit from your local auto parts store.
