Look like the car has possibly had some water damage. Look at the area where passenger side seat bolts down. Looks like there is a good amount of rust.

I have owned 3 4th gens, and never seen that happen.

perhaps the douche previous owner spilled water or something on it? when we go look at it tomarrow ill check and see if the other side is like that

because i mean, im 16, and i dont expect a perfect car, just a looker that sounds nice and looks good for now.... and i ****ing love black SS' lol

Yes, damage caused by water is terrible to your car. A few issues it can cause are metal to rust, electronics to fail, and the carpet to mildew. These are just a few of the issues.

BTW: Don't be hard up for the first car you find. Find the right car, and don't be afraid to pay more for a better car.

Actually, that's not necessarily water damage. If they didn't clean around that bolt, it can rust. My 96 was like that after I scraped what appeared to be cigarette tobacco, snuff, a french fry, and god knows what else off that had been on there for a while. And by the looks of the carpet (unless the picture is just deceiving) the previous owner didn't keep the car real clean. So, I'd say it's a good possibility that it was just dirty also, but never rule out water damage. Shouldn't be hard to differentiate between the two. I can't believe the dealership didn't paint over that. Normally they'll do anything to ask top dollar.

I also don't beleive that's water damage. The seat tracks aren't painted, they're bare metal and could easily have surface rust, especially in a humid area.

Only problem I know with the early LS1 cars is that many of them sucked down oil like crazy and had piston slap issues.

yeah I understand where your coming from, and there are the issues that alot of younger people can not handle a car like this, and that I would not be responsible but ive been driving since i was 14, and since than i have been taking care of my brothers firebird myself because he neglects it, im not what you might think, although i am young, ive been brought up around musclecars, and i appreciate them and i dont see them as just a means to be stupid and go fast, i plan on having it forever, believe me its the type of thing, you would have to know me to understand

and sorry im in school so im typing this off as fast as i can so the grammar isnt the best

I would just say, drive responsibaly and I know you've heard this 1,000 times before... Horse Power can be as dangerous as it is fun... If you respect your power, then you will have no issues, however if you disregard it, it will wrap you around a streetlamp without any mercy whatsoever. I'm just making sure, you HAVE taken into consideration of insurance havn't you? It isn't ganna be anything near cheap for you...

I started driving F-Bodies at an early age aswell, I was in a 95 Z28 when I was 17 - 18, my third car... But by that time I knew how to respect cars and their limits and there was no way I was going to take a chance in it...

You're going to get whatever car you want, absolutely noone regardless of what we say on this forum is going to change that... When I was younger there was tons of opposition of me getting a Z28, I just went and did it anyway and don't regret it to this date... Just becarefull...

I started working when I was real young, and bought a 69 GTO at 12...After I restored it I sold it, like a dumb@$$, now im 18 and have my LT1, which I would love to trade in for an LS1, but I know I will miss it like I miss my GTO.

But BTW, my seats are rusted there to, and every f-body I have ever owned have been, and I have owned 3 4th gens. The factory did't paint them, and they rust easily.
