A4= automatic 4speed
M6= manual 6speed

which is better depends on what you want to do

m6 typically dyno higher, and run faster in the 1/4mi up to a certain speed. after a while the A4 can shift quicker and more consistently than any human can with an m6.

I'll put my driving skills against an a4 any day. Betcha I can shift 2x as fast and hit my RPM every time.

Dude, I can shift fast as h3ll myeslf but there is allways that time where the engine and the trans become disconnected. Fractions of a secondX4= about a second...The auto shifts a lot quicker when done-up....When one gear is disengauging the other is halfway in...

The M6, as with all manuals, is stronger but it beats the h3ll out of a stock 10 bolt rear, the auto is more consistant power and a lot more friendly in traffic.. All on preferances. I, personally, like to choose my gears, not have some throttle valve/computer THINK that this is the right gear for me based on throttle position and engine load/vehicle speed...

Re: A4 and m6 camaro

Being as I don't drive my fbody every day I couldn't care less about traffic. I bought an M6 for the fun factor. I like to feel connected to the car, and I like the fact that driving skill as well as mods come into play during races. I like to drive, I don't like to ride along with the car.

As far as shifting quicker and at precise RPMs, a properly set up, computer controlled auto is going to have the advantage in a drag race every time. Unless you are Ronnie Sox, you won't have a shifting advantage over an auto.

I AM ronnie sox, as a matter of fact. lol Plenty of good drivers outshift autos. Hell, mario andretti could shift in thousandths of seconds... nothing but a matter of practice and knowing your car inside & out.

Look at the setup Mario has...IT'S AN F1 RACE CAR! We're talking a streetable Camaro/Firebird. Something LEGAL, well leagal for some of us...

I like what was said about feeling connected to the car and not bieng along for the ride. I feel the same way!

Re: A4 and m6 camaro

Oooohhh Deja Vu!

Which is faster depends on a few things:

1. How much attention the owner of the car in question was given by his/her parents. If hardly any, the tranny owned by the person you are talking to will be faster than the other one. IE: if you're talking to an A4 owner who's parents neglected him, the A4 is faster, no comparison.

2. Whether or not the person you're talking to has a Midas complex. If so, then obviously anything he/she touches "turns to gold". If they have an M6, then the M6 is faster, no comparison.

3. Experience behind the wheel. If the person you're talking to has very little experience with vehicles in general, the tranny they own will be the fastest, no comparison.

4. The general mood on the given day of the person you're speaking to. The worse the mood, the broader the gap between the two trannies, sometimes to the point of "[insert tranny here] trannies aren't worth a crap!"

Things such as the physical limitations of the human body, coordination, speed of pcm/tranny, mods to each tranny and all that other nonsense mean nothing.

Re: A4 and m6 camaro

My opinion is that A4 are going to be better in the quarter in the long run. They shift faster the most people can, run much more consistantly and launch easier (only for us non godlike drivers, and since you're asking about his, you probably not godlike ) But, I wouldn't give up my M6 for anything. You just cant beat the fun factor of a 6 speed!
