97 z28 power issue

This ones weird. It's my friends 97 z28.

So, He gets in to start the car on saturday, it starts but is idling at 1200 RPM. BUT, ALL the lights are on on the cluster (ABS, SRS, EBrake etc). The car then stalls out. He turns key to off position, rolls it forward and there is NO POWER AT ALL. He lets the car sit a couple minutes and it fires up and idles normal and all the lights are off. Everything appears to be normal EXCEPT- his trip meter reset itself ( was at 105x km, was monitoring kms on the car as he just had a clutch done. ).
He begins driving the car home and on the highway the lights came back on. The next issue he noticed was that the speedo started changing speeds without him speeding up. it read 120 then 140 then 180 until it was pinned. Gets the car home and parks it.

I pick the car up last night to help him out with the issue. Drive home no problems at all thinking he's just making everything up- until I stop to get a drink at a gas station and it does the original no start issue.

So the car is outside my place and im puzzled as to where to even begin looking for the issue.

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?!!?

Since whoever did the recent clutch job would have had to at least drop the rear of the engine, you should check any parts of the wiring harness that might have been pinched/crushed against the firewall or been strained/pulled at their connectors or possibly are now closer to the exhaust system and may have some insulation melted away.
Good Luck

thats not a bad place to start, but the car went 1000km BEFORE it started having this issue. But thanks for the help, that'll be the first thing i look at when it's up in the air.
