97 Z28 instrument cluster

Hey all,

i just got myself a 97 Z28 over here in Japan...it is japanese spec, the instrument cluster has all the japanese units of measure vice the standard US units...

anyway...my question is this:
is the mileage stored in some sort of memmory on the cluster itself? or is it stored in the PCM? I am curious if it will change if i get an american cluster...I realize that the MPH and KPH are different and that will change, but will it show the record from the last cluster or what? i am curious...and if it is stored on the cluster itself, is there any way to modify that so it reads the correct amount?

Thanks!
Benny

the mileage is stored on the cluster, a speedometer repair center would be able to adjust the mileage but I`m sure there would be conditions.

they think the camaro is an american "supercar" lol....don't ask me why...there are a ton faster cars in america...not to mention that most sports cars over here are faster...only becuase they have turbos....lol. and usually no more than 6 cylinders....heh.

yeah. one of the guys up here at the shop said that he was driving his skyline GT-r twin turbo and a japanese guy was driving a z28....and the z28 pulled on him until the turbos kicked in then the skyline blew his engine....lol...and the z28 kept going...lol.

yeah. skylines are tight...but there are way better cars out there....(z28's)
