I currently own a 97 3.8L V6 Camaro and I am looking to upgrade to a LS1 V8 out of a wreck.

As part of my conversion, I'm looking to replace the exhaust system from headers on through. My problem is this...I have a 97 body and I am trying to put a 98 or greater LS1 engine into it and for that year the LS1 engine was not available. And every time I look to purchase headers, cats, y-pipe, and exhaust...one one can tell me what I need. Can someone help!? Will headers and exhaust made for a 98-03 LS1 camaro fit into my 97 camaro with a LS1 engine? If so, any suggestions?

Also, are there any tips you can provide for the conversion?

 

I only know of this company http://www.hpsalvage.com/ that has put an LS1 in a 95 trans-am, check their "project cars" and "swap tips" link on their page, you could call them up and find out what you need.

 

Which headers you can use depends on the year of the car the LS1 came out of.
