Unhappy 95Z AC quit :( Help please

Hi all,

You guessed it, hottest day of the year so far and my AC quit on my baby 95Z28. Yeah, My wife was driving it ::Grumble::

Heres the deal, i checked it out and the compressor clutch is no longer engaging. All was well yesterday. Checked all the fuses..no dice. Im wondering, could I be low on refrigerant 134a? I have a refill and was wondering if its worth a shot. If so ..if I recall right I need to charge the low side. Which connector would that be? There are two, one forward near the radiator, other aft on the same line past an adaptor. I think I need 28-30 lbs on the low side.

Any help is always appreciated.

Thanks all N Peace,
Dave

Well you cant charge the system if your pump isnt running. One thing you might check is the wires running into the connector on the lower a/c line. One of my wires happend to get a break in it right at the connector. Start your car and turn the A/C on all the way to full cold and to the MAX setting. Then go out and wiggle those wires and see if you hear the compressor kicking on and off. Its worth a shot. My wires had never been messed with, I guess they just wore out from the vibration. Hope that helps.

Could be a bad switch. Try jumping them.

Thanks for the help all. Where do I jump the switch? I will try both, If I can get the compressor to kick in I will fill it if the pressures low.
Thanks Again, Dave

Re: 95Z AC quit :( Help please

Thanks all for the help. One more question before I give up and take it to the doc. So far I have replaced the relay, checks the fuses. Last thing I wanted to do was try shorting the pressure sensor and see if the compressort kicks in; then check the freon pressure and connector. This pressure sensor has 3 wires, if I recall right, all the others I worked on were two wires. Which two do I short to bypass the switch?

Thanks for the help again ~Peace~
