94 Z28

I should be acquiring a 94 z28 by the end of February and I was wondering if there was any little quirks they had that is more or less normal. I had a 84 Z28 about 10 years ago, so big difference. Thanks. Z28vixen

The main quirk with these cars is the optispark. Really not a big deal. The power window motors are not the best either and the automatic trannies and 10 bolt rearends will start to crumble depending what kind of power you start to push thru it.

So is there a bolt in rear end that will handle more hp and abuse?

Yeah i agree with GTP said.

Theres a bunch of small design flaws that can be annoying like the opti right under the water pump and some other things,

but the harder you drive it the quicker things fail, seems to be especially true for the LT1.

and then there's that last little quirk of LT1s tending to plant your *** in your seat

Oh yes, there is a good aftermarket in stronger rear axles and there are a couple vendors on here that can build up an automatic tranny to take alot more abuse.

Yes i will agree that the opti is a problem esp.the early 92-94 ones and the 95 up ones vented are slightly better designed.I will be on my 3rd opti but i am going w/the Msd one and hopefully my problems fixed. As well the Msd has a hose kit and if i need to replace the cap/rotor i won,t need to buy a complete distributor.

Are the headers coated? It is not unusual for a fresh set of coated headers to take out the existing 02 sensors.

the Z

The guy we are getting from has said that both windows do not roll down...small problem for summer and the heater core is not working right. But I had read somewhere else that it could also just be plugged and need to be flushed out.

If they are power windows, then the motors are notorious for failing. As for the heater core, you are correct, that is another common issue with these cars and can sometimes be corrected by flushing it out with a garden hose.
