4th Gen Front Speaker Covers

Can you remove the front speaker covers on the doors or do I need to take the entire door upholstry apart to access the speakers?

I'm pretty sure you can access the speaker by taking off the covers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you DO have to disassemble the entire door panel to access the door speakers. If you try to take off the speaker covers they will crack.

The other four speakers in the car just come right off, and snap back into place.

Ya i broke mine too, i dont really understand why they dont come out. 3 of my sides popped out like it was going to pop right off, however the top part of the cover was permanently attached? i didnt understand that.

Quite honestly, nothing GM does makes any kind of sense nor do I believe it makes any kind or logic... Like why the whole motor is sitting closer to the passengerside fender than the driverside and do I need to go on?

On the front? You certain? They're bonded onto the door. The side has latched but the top and bottom of them are literally bonded to the door... I broke mine trying to get it off...

I have noticed on some f-bod's that the speaker covers have a glue of some type ontop of the latches to help hold them on. Maybe i've just been lucky enough that they have never broke on me when first pulling them off.

On my 93, they popped right out with no problem (before I switched to T/A door panels) but on my 97, they're bonded in. If you pull the door panel off, you'll see that they melt down a plastic tab to adhere it in. You can cut it out with a Dremel to make it removable, but it still won't be big enough to get the speaker out. To get the speaker out, you must remove the door panel.

My 94 popped right off no problem. They actually WILL come off. All I had to do to access my speakers were pop off the covers and pop off the bottom door panels tabs. Never had to take the whole door panel off.

On my '96 they come heat bonded to the rest of the door panel, the whole door is constructed like that. A prong goes trough a slot and then they melted it over to secure the 2 pieces together. I found out now that I'm replacing the vinyl and carpet on the doors with synthetic suede. the way to remove it is to cut the plastic from behind and carefully pry the pieces apart, that's how I removed the 2 panels I had to recover.
