Jegs and Summit sell 383" pump gas crate engines that produce over 550HP?

I didn't say anything about 383" motors on my post. I stated Gen 1 SBC's on pump gas. And yes they have those. Don't start a pointless pissing match like you have done on some of the other threads.

He stated he wanted a 383" motor, as he had the 350 block already. And what Mustang are you talking about!? Pointless pissing match... We were having a discussion on a 383 motor when you come in talking about $10K 400+ ci engines and fictional Mustangs

please take it to PM's

to the origional poster:
it CAN be done, my buddy just built a 383 for his truck that should be around 430 at the wheels IIRC.
If you can run high 10.x:1 compression and a 230s duration cam, you can run 11's.

this is what i would do:
and a price of what it will cost (approx)
ARP head bolts - 60
accessory bolt kit - 75-80
comp cams mech roller camshaft (cca-12-000-9) 300
roller lifters - 350ish
pro magnum rockers - 280
hi-tech pushrods - 130
guideplate - 25
1.550 inner fit valve springs - 300
11/32" super locks - 25
rocker arm studs - 63
edelbrock victor jr. aluminum heads (bare w/ valves) - 1150ish
victor ram tunnel intake manifold
w/e your machine shop does for work and such for the short block - say 3k
then you just need retainers - 100ish
valve covers, balancer, timing chain, oil pump, oil pan, and some other things, and you could get to the 450 RWHP mark more than likely, if not - REALLY close, but you would have to rev to 6500 or so

also, that would be probably a 7k setup, but you can do it cheaper with used parts n such
