P0420 or P0430 cat inefficiency code? How many miles? GM extended the cats' warranty on the 00-02 LS1 F cars to 10 years/120K back in December 2006. You don't need to be the original owner. Bank 1 is 420, Bank 2 is 430.

I took mine to the dealer and had no trouble -- they didn't have the replacement cat in stock, though, so I had to wait a couple days for one to come in.

I'm the second owner; ~80,000 miles on the odometer.

Where can I find out more information on the warranty being extended to 10/120000? I had the cat replaced by the dealer on my 01 TA last Dec and they charged me over $1000 for it. I would like to read about this extended warranty before I call them up and say WTF.

Now, 4 months later I am throwing the same code again. GRRRR.

Don't have the actual verbage, but this might help you find it.

Campaign - Catalytic Converter Warranty Extension

Subject: Special Coverage Adjustment - Catalytic Converter Extended Warranty #05513 (11/27/2006).

In the letter GM sent me it had provisions on how to get your money back if they were already replaced and you paid for it. See what the dealer says or call the 1-800 GM customer service number.

Removing the cat will be plan B. I'll see what the dealer says tomorrow.

Won't removing the cat keep the engine light on? How difficult is it to program it out?
