guys just recently got a 01 z28 cars still running beautifuly but out of no where my security light came on and i have no idea why the car still starts and runs but the security light wont go out can anyone help i talked to my buddy who has an ls1 ta and he told me it could be the battery what do you guys think please help

 

most gm' keys have a chip in them somtimes the chip falls out and also they can loose mem/and need reprog of either the body control mod or the chip itself, not sure how gm does it anymore. spend the 95bucks at your local gm dealer and have them tell ya whats wrong

Your system is in "Fault Enable Mode". When mine did that it was because the two little wires going to the lock cylinder broke. I ended up having to replace the cylinder and get a new key cut.
