The passenger side of the 2000 Camaro will lock but not unlock only with that switch - works fine (lock/unlock) from driver's side and remote.

Ideas and directions? TIA !

 

I can't imagine the problem being anything other than a defective switch.

 

Yeah if the remote works unlocking the door then the mechanism/motor works fine.. take the passenger side switch out. check for corrosion or any thing that would weaken the signal..check wiring if possible... if everything looks okay then go buy a replacement switch.. they cost less than $25 last I knew... I think they are side specific... I've replaced mine.. it's easy to do

look up shoebox's door regulator replacement guide as I believe it's basically part of it.. if not just look at the door.. whatever it was it was easy.. think it might be just clips holding it in.

 

There are just clips holding down the switch panel in the door. You pry it up and out of the door armrest/handle; but since it is made of plastic, you have to pry carefully to avoid breaking it. Make sure the connector hasn't just worked part way off the switch, because that could cause your problem also.

 

Are you suggesting I can pop the switch off of the door without removing the panel ?
