2.5" or 3"?

I want to put true duals on a 95' lt1. the car's motor is stock except for a few bolt-ons. I'm want to run long tubes without cats, and probably flowmaster super 40's with an "X" or "H" pipe. I would like to use 3" but i dont know if that is 2 big since im not going to have cats, at least at first. so should i use 2.5" pipe or 3" alright for my true duals. I do plan to add alot more power to the motor soon afterword, but not sure how long it will take due to budget. Any other suggestions to make my exhaust better would be appreciated.

Well the long tubes will more than likely have 3in collectors, so unless you want to put adapters right after the collector I would go 3in but with 3in you will be losing more ground clearance

IMO, for a stock engine, I'd go with the 2.5". I wouldn't worry about the 3" until you get into the 400+ HP range.

agreed...unless you're making 400+hp at the wheels....you'll probably not lose any power going with the 2.5"

but you'll gain good clearance with it.

and i'm gonna suggest going with something like the magnaflow 4x9" mufflers. great sound, great flow and inexpensive.

Why not just do it now instead of worrying about it later and spending more money on it again after you start working on the engine. Ive ran 3" all the way around on every camaro ive ever had and havent had any problems from the stock 305 i used to have to the built 350 sb i am working on now
