1997 z28 or 1986 iroc z28

Being that it's an 86, yeah. The 86's were the slowest ones (even slower than the 85's). A V6 4th gen isn't going to best the later ones though. A 90-92 IROC/Z28 with the L98 will give an LT1 a run for its money when comparing stock to stock.

I've never heard of a stock l98 IROC/z28 going faster than mid 14s. Got any videos or anything?

I bought a blue '85 IROC brand new. That car was sharp as hell, and was the talk of my hometown for a couple of weeks, but it was the biggest POS I have ever owned.

Like previously stated you do have a lot more space to work with in the engine bay of the 3rd Gen and cramming a BBC is very common with those cars. Depends whether or not the car you're looking for will be a Project or a DD. As far as reliability the 1997 z28 would be the best bet, especially if it's 6speed.

Remember L98's had more stock torque than LT1's and only 50 less ponies tops... Comparitively, they also had a better gear ratio stock (3.23 I believe) than the 2.73 geared LT1 A4's...
