Re: 1996 z28

Sounds reasonable, these cars if taken care of will hit 150K+
I picked mine up a couple of years ago for $4800, with 86K. The car is still running like a champ at 100K. If you can, post some pictures.

Re: 1996 z28

That has to be a bogus ad. The phone number listed is to a dental office in Brooklyn. A 98 SS with 55k on it for $1800? No way. The engine/trans alone would fetch that price. Call on it if you want, but be careful. That's either the deal of the century, or it's a scam. Personally, I'm going with the latter.

Re: 1996 z28

he emailed me this

Hello again,

I need money to pay my loan and that is way I'm selling the car so cheap.I am located in Indianapolis, Indiana right now (and so is the car) because of the new job promotion. I am very busy, I would really like to meet you but I have received a lot of offers since I posted the add and meeting with each and everyone for a drive test or inspection would take too much time. What I want to do, to avoid that, is to use MSN Autos's services for handling online transactions. According to their policy, MSN Autos will secure the funds into their escrow account and they will not release it to the seller before you will not receive, inspect and accept the vehicle. You will have a 5 days inspection period to run a series of checks on the car. If it will not be 100% as I describe it to be, or you will find it unsatisfactory for any reason, they will refund you in full.
I only suggest you try to see things from this perspective: you get to test the car (though be aware that it must be returned in the same condition, except mileage), the money are being held by a third party and that same party handles all the necessary procedures (shipping and other legal procedures).
Since everyone is pressing me to close the deal I would like to push things forward a little bit. Let me know where you stand so that I can start making some phone calls or talk to other people who are also interested. If you agree with my suggestion than here's what I need from you:

- Your name and address (it is where you want the car to be shipped)
- Your phone number (an MSN Autos representative will probably call you for a confirmation)

I will appreciate a prompt answer!

Re: 1996 z28

It's a scam. I wish I'd posted what I originally planned in my previous post. A friend of mine called me a couple years ago about a deal like this on craigslist. He got an email very similar to what you've posted here. The key things that stick out to me (having dealt with this scam before) are the excuse about being out of the area, the ****-poor grammar, and the reference to a third-party "escrow" scenario. Moreover, who in their right mind would post a LANDLINE contact number for a business in NY when he's in IN? Kinda hard to sell a car when you aren't around to answer the phone...

In the event you don't feel like reading all that I've written here, let me give you the condensed version:

Re: 1996 z28

Just came across a scam just like on craigslist in my area: this involving a 2005 Nissan Titan 4X4 with 65K that the seller was offering for $2800; I responded because my Dad's looking for a 4X4 truck and well that was a steal for it, but once the seller told me it was in Bismark and would be shipped in a bubble and all the other little things about the transaction. I just held off on it. Next day ad was removed(probably because someone reported it as spam.)
