1996 and 1997 SS's difference

Had a quick question. Ive got a 1996 SS and a 1997 SS. i know the 1996's were "Z28/SS"s and then 1997 were just SS's

like on the intake of the 1996 it actually said Z28/SS right
and 1997 said camaro SS.

cause my 1996 says camaro ss on it just like my 1997.

and the floor mats were the same way and the car cover i have says Z28/ss insted of camaro ss.

what all changed between the 2 years? just between the SS stand point? i dont car about the 1996/1997 camaro changes like the interior and tail lights.....

thanks

i also noticed on my 1996 that it has a support under the intake elbow, which was not on my 97 unless it was removed in the past.

is it normal that my 96 has the Camaro SS ram air intake and not the Z28/ss one? or might i have gotten one from being toards the end of the line? or else it was changed.

1996 and 1997 SS difference

The first pre production 96 SS was to be called the Z28 SS untill they realized there never was a Z28 SS .There were Z28,s and SS cars but never Z28 SS,s. All 96SS,s had the Z28 SS air intake marked along with some 97,s.The key flobs and console also had marked Z28SS on the 96.s.THE 96,S also had the floor mats and car cover marked Z28SS. In 97 the cars also had the famous cone put in the exhaust to to tone the sound down. When the 97 owners realized it most removed it. THE 96SS cars are the least produced SS,s of any year going back to the beginning. Hope this helps some.
