121,200 Miles...Bye, Bye Radiator

Nothing important in this thread, just making a statement.

Well, it had to break sometime. After a trail of orange-ish fluid in the driveway and some steam leaking from the hood...the radiator has given in.

Not to bad for a 12 year old car though. There's a slight crack on the passenger side right above the low coolant sensor. Hopefully the next radiator will last another 12 years!

You're at the mileage where stuff starts breaking.

Lucky you, mine just let go at 67k. It started to leak where the fitting of the auto trans line is, near the coolant sensor. I replaced it as well as the upper and lower hoses, but now my temp gauge is not steady as before.

I don't know if this is normal, but it rises when idling at a stoplight but goes down when the engine is revved up once underway and with better ariflow. My coolant level is going down every 5 days or so though, but I don't know where, there are no apparent leaks and no white smoke in the exhaust.

It sucks, in 3 Camaros I've had (2nd, 3rd. 4th gen) all three had radiator problems. I can't wait to change a radiator in a 5th gen.

Not bad at all...My 94 gave out last year when I hit a pot hole and crack the tank.

interceptor, either you didnt get all the air out of the system, water pump is goin out, or your thermostat is bad. If all of that checks out good, could still be a gasket, they dont always start blowin white smoke out the exhaust as soon as it happens. How much are you having to add each time?

also, some increase in temp with these is expected when sitting still.... but not too much. Shouldnt get any higher than around 230* if your all stock. Might want to invest in a real temp gauge. That was one of the first things mine got, factory gauge is too vague.

Yeah I do hate the early 100Ks things tend to break a lot. Currently I'm in a love/hate relationship with my car lol.

But the good thing is, all the stuff you're replacing means a lean mean mustang beasting machine for another 100K....hopefully
