Who knows about Flamethrowers?

I have been a little interested in a Flamethrower, these are the kind that supposedly shoot out flames from your tailpipes and was wondering if anyone knows about or has this product and whether they are safe or not? Any info would be great.

its a really easy set up and works great i would advise getting tips that come out a little past yoru bumper depeneding on how big your pipes are. the skinnier the tip the farther the flame

I'm not sure how it would work on a newer car, they used to just install a plug in the pipe....cut the key off and pump the hell out the gas.

I'm not much on open flames near my gas tank and all......had a real bad experience once

That website says that the flames are from their kit simply igniting the unburned fuel already coming out of your ehaust. How freakin' rich would you have to be running to have enough fuel to make a 20' flame shoot out of your exhaust? I call Bravo Sierra

Get a 48 cadillac and do it... I don't know if it belongs on an fbody. but i guess there's a first for everything. hell, i've shot flames out my exhaust before when I was running a little rich.

I've seen them on Ws6's and it was a simple setup consisting of two spark plugs at the tips.

considering there are a few issues with such a setup...1, your back bumper... it's basically plastic... and it does not tak a whole lot of a mistake to have it roll up unto it destroying the paint and or melting / catching your rear bumper on fire. Second. Your gas tank is there... the one thing you want to keep as far away from your as tank as possible is fire.
third, you will be wasting lots of gas constantly, would probably kill your o2's in a fuel injected car, IF you could get it to even run right with dumping that much fuel into it. You do not just go from using a normal amount to using enough to do that. it has to be tuned to do it all the time, the Cat if you have one would surely be toast.

Next. it was pretty much designed around a non-computer controlled carb enviroment with a steel bodied car, and even then they had cars burn to the ground.

Just saying.. it is a pointless thing to do because there are several negative impacts on parts and costs, without any gain of anything other than maybe catching yourself on fire.

Is catching yourself on fire considered a "gain"?

depends on who is catching fire... and no one said it was a personal gain. but maybe a gain for society.. never know. It was meant sort of as a joke..
