Walbro install

Installing this fuel pump has led me to absolutely hate cars. As if removing the tank wasn't bad enough, I go to install the pump in the basket and the glue i got from my kit was dried out. I had crazy glue handy but for some reason i don't picture it holding up submerged in fuel for any significant amount of time. Anyone know of some epoxy or something that I could use? They didn't design that fuel tank with the thought of anyone having to remove it.

It's alot easier to just cut a access panel from the top and screw or rivet a panel to cover it up - You will always be able to get to it again.

I too am looking for an appropriate adhesive for in-tank. Subscribing in case somebody answers your question, or if I find the answer I'll share here.

But, if you absolutely hate cars, get a moped. They are real easy to work on. Seriously, just make the best of all the stuff you had to remove to pull the tank, and it will seem more worthwhile. Install new panhard & LCA bushings, clean the underbody in that area, maybe even paint the axle and/or exhaust if needed while they are out. Makes the job a lot more satisfying in the end. I tend to have the philosophy that if it comes off, it goes on better than before. LOL, that's how my water pump drive repair turned into a 383!!

I'm gonna head to the parts store in a bit to see what sort of epoxy they have before I go back to the shop. All the rear suspension is pretty much done so there's nothing left to do there. I am installing a set of air bags while I'm at it at least. Once i get the tank back in, the rest shouldn't take too long.

Hopefully I get it put together quick enough. I'm leaving at 5:30 tomorrow morning for the track. Talk about cutting it close.

I've tried many adhesives and "seal all" is the only one that works for me. Most NAPA and Autozones have seal all glue. I tried epoxy like JB but they dont hold up imersed in raw fuel. I cut a hole in the rear pan and put two Walbro 255 lph in. I was'nt up for removal of the tank. It helps to have a MIG welder cuz I completely changed the pump mount and tank seal to hold both pumps. Both have been working well for me. (97ss 383-D1) Hope this helps.
