Trying to remove the gas tank?!?!?!

Whats the best way to do this? the filler neck keeps getting caught and it seems like there is no where for it to go. is there a special technique to this or something??

You could always go pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual.

Have you dropped the rear end completely out or just hanging?

A: drop the rear LOW
B: When it jams up pull down on the end of the tank bending the filler tube enough to get it out and hope it doesn't break.

I have used both methods sucessfully.

When i bought my roller to do a motor swap i was also going to do a Fuel pump swap since i knew the history on mine.

I was getting ready to pull the gas tank out (already had the rear off because i was putting mine on it) when i thought i might as well check just do the access hole thing since i am going to need an aftermarket pump later. I oull the carpet back and to my surprise i see a very well made access panel that i could unscrew.
Did the fuel pump swap in about 10 minutes.

OMG NO! Haven't you heard that doing the access hole reduces value of our precious sub 10k valued cars and causes structural turbulent alpha hydroxicut stress in the unibody of the car!!

Jeff, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I do hope you verified for sure that your fuel pump really does need to be replaced.

Anyway, I agree that Shoebox's site, and/or a Haynes or Chilton's manual would be a big help, plus do a search of the LT1 tech forum here. I would imagine this topic has been discussed several times.

Good luck, and take a break if you start to get pissed off. For me, if I don't take that "time out," that's when I start breaking stuff or hurting myself.

I told you how to do it in your last thread. Look at that, grab a Chilton's, search, or use your shop teacher.
