Re: rev limiter

You should already have a rev limiter.

The stock rev limiter is programmed into your computer (ECM). I prevents the engine from being revved beyond the desgn redline of the engine. It does this by shutting off the fuel injectors when RPM reaches the programmed value. The stock setting is a bit over 5,800 RPM, with slight variations depending which gear the trans is in.

If your engine has been modified and a new tune programmed for the modifications, the RPM may have been altered in the chip burned for the new tune.

Benefit - prevents, your engine from being revved to the point where the engine can be damaged.... e.g. bent pushrods, floating the valves, etc.
