Prob starting

Last night I noticed my fuel guage was not working properly and I ran out of gas. Now my 93 Z has a problem starting and once while driving it went dead. I did a fuel pressure check and it checked out fine. The fuel pump doesn't kick on everytime I turn the ignition but if I leave the key in the on position and wiggle the wiring harness from the opti to the pcm connection I hear the pump kick on. If I let the car sit for about 30 min it will fire right up but will run for about ten mins and will not start for another 30. Please help.

I don't know if this will help but I was driving last night and the car died( like it did before) and when I tried to start it up I heard the most horrible grinding noise I have ever heard on a car. I was coming from under the car. It an automatic tranny and I recently replaced the tv cable. I have been having probs with the shift point and had been told that would fix it. It didn't.

any issues before running out of gas?
if not sounds like you sucked up the gunk at the bottom of the tank and clogged the fuel filter. the sound could come from eithr gunk comming out of it...or possible the car starving for gas. Change it and see what happends...cheap replacement
