possible vac leak

So i decided to hook up a scan tool up to my car and everything was normal except the 30 lbs of vac at idle 700rpms. What i want to know is, is that high? and if it is where do i start looking and how for a vac leak?

If it's MAP=30 kPa (kilo Pascals) or 9-11 Hg (inches of mercury) then your normal. There is no such reading as 30 LBS for vacuum, vacuum psia (lb/in sq) only goes 0-14.7. However inches of mercury (Hg) a more common vacuum measurement goes 0-30 but 30 at idle would be an invalid reading for a engine that is capable of running OK. If the scan tool is actually reading inches Hg then you may have an invalid signal feeding it or possible an incorrect setting on the scanner. Here is a table that lists and compares various vacuum measurement units " http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/va...ter-d_460.html "
