Which Plug Wires?

I'm getting to the point that I need to start getting the smaller things for my build up and next on my list is plug wires. What are some good ones, the ones to stay away from, and your experiences with different brands.

I was thinking some Moroso wires or some taylor 10.4s, but I'm not sure that I need something like that. I have usually used MSD 8.5s and had good luck with them but I'm just looking at my options.

Eventually I will be adding a delteq setup, but that probably won't be until the winter.

Let me know

Accel Extreme 9000s. They have coated boots to protect against header heat. Or, even better, Magnecors.

I'm not a big fan of accel products, but how about the taylor full metal jacket ones?

I've never had any problems with Taylor, MSD, or just factory replacement Delco wires.

I might just go with the delco replacements, that way I'm not spending $100+ on a set of wires that are going to be replaced anyway.

Especially if you get the long tube headers, then you will most likely want to ditch the stock wire routing setup and go with an over the valve cover setup instead.

O'Reilys quoted me $ 108 for AC Delco ones...

I bought my Taylor Spiro Pros for around $ 50.

Wow, didn't realize Delcos have gotten that high in cost. I also used the Taylor Spiro Pros before switcing over to my OTVC setup and they were very good wires and they ran around 45-50 bucks. Can't beat that.

What's the difference in over the valve cover, and normal routing for the wires?

No problem, OTVC meens that the plug wires are routed over the valve cover and then down to the plug rather than the stock under the header routing. OTVC keeps the wires out of the way more so the wires don't get burned up by the headers.

OTVC setup...

And if your car is stock you can go out and look to see how the wires are routed.

Hope that helps

OTVC wires is sooo much easier to do than the stock location wires. Thunder Racing sells the Taylor OTVC kit.

I agree. Routing the OTVC wires is painfully simple as compared to the stock setup.

How hard is it to cut and put the ends on with the crimping tool? I did a set on my brothers S10, but I didn't have a tool and it sucked and I said that I would never do it again.

They are still tricky. It might help to put the boots in some hot water to aid in slipping over the wire.
